What is the date and time of the 2017 LewisGale Salem Half Marathon?

Race day is on Saturday, October 14th, 2017. 

The Half Marathon & 8K start at 9 a.m. The Kids run will start immediately after the Half Marathon & 8K runners have passed. 

How do I register?

You can only register online by clicking here.  The last day to sign up online for the race will be Tuesday, October 10th, 2017.

What are the entry fees for the Half Marathon, 8K & Kids Run?

What is the cancellation/refund policy for the event?

Entry fees are non-refundable and they cannot be transferred or sold to another person. No exceptions. This means once we have received your entry, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate.

We plan on running the race rain or shine. For the safety of our participants, we will only cancel the race due to natural causes, terrorist attacks, or other things that will would put the safety of the runners or spectators at risk. If we have to cancel an event, we would defer your entry for the next year.

Once I am registered, can I switch races?

If you are signed up for one race and want to switch to the other, please visit our deferral page or click here.  This will take you to the registration page, where you will need to log in.  Once you have logged in,  you can switch to either race.  

This must be done before September 30th. After September, you will only be able to switch races at the Race Expo. 

There is a $10 fee to switch and you will need to pay for any applicable increase in the entry fee.

How do I receive my Race Packet?

Packet pick-up will take place at the race expo on Friday, October 13th.  The time & location are TBD.

A photo ID is required to pick up your race packet. You may pick up a race packet for ONE another pre-registered runner, provided you have a copy of their photo ID.

Are there any volunteer opportunities for the LewisGale Half Marathon, 8K, or Kids Fun Run?

Is there a charitable organization involved in the race?

The charity for this year's race is the Salem Food Pantry. The Salem Food Pantry provides food & financial assistance to those in need. They will be at the race collecting food, if any runner wants to donate.

Also, we have several water stations along the course that can be sponsored by local businesses. If a local business sponsors a water station, then part of the sponsorship goes back to a charity of their choice. In return, the charity must be able to work at a water station.

What drinks will be on the course?

All water stations will serve Gatorade and water.

Can I wear my headphones on the course?

The use of headphones is strongly discouraged for your safety and the safety of other runners.  Many of the roads will still be open to limited traffic.  You should be aware of your surroundings at all times.

Are baby strollers allowed in the race?

For the safety of everyone, no baby strollers will be allowed in the race.
